Edwin Thostenson was born July 12, 1924, at Hanley Falls, Minnesota, to parents Tom and Lydia (Nelson) Thostenson. He was baptized in 1924 and confirmed in 1938, both at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church. Edwin attended Country School District 10, called the Sheveland School through the 8th grade. At the age of 13, Edwin had a serious bicycle accident, which left him disabled. A few years later, they discovered a brain tumor, which was removed, but left Edwin with many years in hospitals. He returned to his parents home in 1961 and stayed there until his mother entered the Clarkfield Care Center in April of 1991. Edwin enjoyed gardening, mowing lawns, and helping with field work. Edwin moved to REM in Montevideo on June 19, 1991, and to the Clarkfield Care Center on October 14, 2004. He passed away at the Care Center on Monday, November 29, 2004 at the age of 80 years, 4 months, and 17 days. He is survived by brother Gaylen (and Wanyce) Thostenson and their children: Mark, Paul, and Wanita; and sister Lillian (and Gerald) Enger and their four sons: Allen, Gary, Brian, and David; and sister Marlys (and Fran) Scherer and their children: Anthony, Trent, and Anita; and also by 20 Grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom, on February 23, 1985 and mother Lydia on February 8, 1996.
