Obituary

Edward Theodore Rogge was born September 22, 1887, the son of Henry and Rosena (Martin) Rogge at Boyd, Minnesota. He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, by Rev. August Hillje on April 5, 1903. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County by Rev. Boettcher in 1887. He has been a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Boyd, Minnesota. Mr. Rogge was married to Lillian Amanda Eggen of Adair, Iowa, in 1915. To this union were born four children. Mrs. Rogge passed away in June of 1939. Mr. Rogge farmed and trucked in the Boyd vicinity for many years. On December 6, 1953, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Minnie Rogge. The two resided in Clarkfield, Minnesota, a number of years. Ed's health began failing about six years ago and since then has spent periods at the Senior Haven and Canby Hospital, the Shady Rest Lodge at Gary South Dakota, and the Clarkfield Care Center. He passed away February 23, 1970, at the Clarkfield Care Center, at the age of 82 years. Mr. Rogge is survived by his wife, Minnie; four children: Leslee of Minneapolis, Bernice (Mrs. Frank Hansen) of Canby, Betty (Mrs. Arley Anderson) of Greeley, Colorado, Harriet (Mrs. Joe Pfaser) of Minneapolis; six grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Martin Schlee of Clarkfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian; two sisters: Emma of Clarkfield and Ioda (Mrs. Paul Steinhauer) of Rock Island, Illinois; one brother, Emil of Clarkfield; one half brother, Henry Rogge of Clarkfield; two half sisters: Minnie Beil and Bertha Rickhoss, both of Chicago, Illinois.
