Edward Helgeson was born to parents Tom and Dorothea (Johnson) Helgeson near Montevideo, Minnesota, on June 23, 1916. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Watson, Minnesota, and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Montevideo. Ed was united in marriage to Gladys A. Christopherson on October 6, 1940, in Paso Robles, California. To this union two children were born: Patricia and Michael. Ed served in the United States Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945. He was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska While living in Clarkfield, Ed worked at AMPI and also in sales. Ed passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Monday evening, December 28, 1998, at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 5 days. He is survived by his wife, Gladys of Clarkfield; and his children: Patricia and Lowell Lundy of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Michael and LeAnn Helgeson of Champlin, Minnesota; and two granddaughters: Rochell Prigge and Krista Helgeson. He is also survived by sisters: Karen Schultz, Helen Meyers, and Margaret Bratland. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Caroline Gilbertson, Thea Gilsrud, Art Helgeson, Cora Lund, Doris Brekke, Sarah Tostenson, Walter Helgeson, Clifford Helgeson and Norman Helgeson. Ed will be missed by friends and family. Blessed be his memory.
