Edward Hanserud was born on October 12, 1881, in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Ingebret and Marie (Johnson) Hanserud. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed October 31, 1897, by Pastor O.C Farseth. He was a life long member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Ed lived with his brother, John, on their farm, the same place on which he was born, in Lisbon Townshop, until 1948 when, together they moved to town. He had been in poor health for many years, but in spite of his illness, enjoyed the fellowship of neighbors and friends. Ed passed away July 28, 1962, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, at the age of 80 years, having been hospitalized for about nine weeks. Surviving are two sisters, Gina Lynne and Belle Youngern and one brother, John; four nephews: Arden and C.E. Lynne and Oscar and Elmer Melbostad, all of Clarkfield.
