Edward Appleseth was born August 30, 1893, to John and Johanna (Skarsten) Appleseth at the homestead in Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized by Rev. O.C. Farseth and confirmed by Rev. O.T. Storaasli. His youth was spent on the farm. In 1918 he established a produce business in Clarkfield. This he continued to operate until his death, March 28, 1955, at the age of 61 years, six months and 28 days. In 1921 he was united in marriage to Anna Jorgenson of the Hazel Run area. To their union six children were born. Except for a vacation trip to Norway in 1950, he spent his whole life at Clarkfield where he worked faithfully, acquiring a host of friends. He is survived by his wife, and six children, namely, James of Clarkfield, LeRoy, living north of Boyd, Minnesota, Esther (Mrs. Harold Forsman) of Minneapolis, Walter of Clarkfield, Ruby (Mrs. Dennis Anderson) of Dawson, Minnesota, and George, who lives at home; sixteen grandchildren; two brothers, Oscar and Henry and two sisters, Mrs. Ragna Hauge and Inga (Mrs. Russell Johnson) all of Clarkfield. Preceding him in death are his parents and one brother, Carl, who died in 1913. He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by those close to him and all who knew him intimately.
