Obituary

Edna Mae Stehn, 95, of Clarkfield, Minnesota, died Tuesday, September 6, 1988, at the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota. Funeral Services for Edna Mae Stehn were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 1988, from the Clarkfield United Methodist Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota, with Reverand Wayne Shelton officiating. Organist was Kathy Forsberg with Vocal Music by Janice Hansen and Ann Hanson. Final Resting Place was in the Appleton Cemetery of Appleton, Minnesota. Serving as Casket Bearers were Alan Forsberg, Richard and Kenneth Rowberg, David and Richard Hansen, and Robert Hansen. She was born Edna Mae Whitaker on December 29, 1892 at North Redwood, the daughter of Allen and Ida (Bishop) Whitaker. She received her education in North Redwood, Minnesota, and joined the Redwood Falls Methodist Church in 1902. She moved with her parents to St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1909 and to Rockville, Minnesota, in 1910. Edna married Otto William Stehn of Danvers, Minnesota, in June of 1915. They farmed in Swift County until 1941 and retired to Appleton in 1954, where they were members of the Appleton United Methodist Church. Two daughters were born to this union, Ruth Elizabeth (Mrs. Gilbert Rowberg) of Woodland Hills, California and Bernice Alfreda (Mrs. Harold Forsberg) of Clarkfield. Otto Stehn died in October of 1962. Edna moved to Brookside Manor of Montevideo, Minnesota, in July of 1976 and later to the Care Center in Clarkfield. Besides her immediate family, Edna is survived by nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; three brothers, Steve, Kenneth and William; and two sisters, Bernice and Dorothy. Edna was preceded in death by her husband Otto; five brothers, Edward, Richard, Alan, Hugh and one infant brother; two sisters, Helen and Beryl; and one son-in-law, Harold Forsberg.
