Edna Steinke was born April 6, 1921, at Nampa, Idaho, to parents Wilhelm Carl August and Martha (Thewke) Stanke. She was baptized in Nampa, Idaho, and confirmed on November 24, 1937, at First Lutheran Church, Gary, South Dakota. Edna married Arnold H. Steinke on July 14, 1940. They were the parents of four children: Donna Marie, Gary, Roger, and Loren. Arnold and Edna farmed west of Clarkfield. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church (Omro Township) where she taught Sunday School and was involved with the Ladies Aid. She worked at the Clarkfield Care Center in her later years. Edna loved cats and enjoyed flowers. Edna lived on the farm until the fall of 1990 when she moved to Pleasant View Apartments in Dawson, Minnesota. She became a resident of the Johnson Memorial Home of Dawson in January of 1999 and remained there until her death. Edna passed away at Johnson Memorial Home on Friday, November 4, 2005, at the age of 84 years, 6 months, and 29 days. She is survived by her children: Donna Marie (and Elton) Bickel of Elkton, Michigan, Gary (and Pat) Steinke of Boyd, Minnesota, Roger (and Sue) Steinke of Springfield, Minnesota, and Loren (and Sue) Steinke of Shakopee, Minnesota. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and brother Art (and Doris) Stanke of Mesa, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, her mother and father, two sisters and three brothers. Blessed be her memory.
