Edna Alfreda Schulz, daughter of Fred W. and Emma (Abramowski) Schulz was born March 26, 1915, in Omro Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Omro Township in April of 1915, by Pastor Pankow. At age 13, Edna moved to Boyd, Minnesota, and lived most of her life in and around Boyd. She was confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church on August 10, 1930, by Pastor H.W. Moehring. She was active in church as Sunday School, Junior Bible Class and Vacation Bible School teacher and Superintendent of the Sunday School. She was secretary of the Walther League, secretary and treasurer of the Ladies Aid, and also the secretary of the congregation. She was a member of the Zion LWML from its beginning at Zion. Edna worked part time as Substitute Clerk at the Boyd Post Office and then 30 years at the State Bank of Boyd, progressing from Bookkeeper to Cashier. Edna retired in 1980. She was involved in many civic affairs in her community. She was treasurer of the City of Boyd. Edna also served as secretary for the Boyd Booster Club, President and Vice President of the Boyd Senior Citizens Club, and served on the FHA and Region 6W Committee. Prior to becoming vision impaired, she loved to call and visit with shut-ins. She became a resident of Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo, Minnesota, in June of 2001, where she passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2001, at the age of 86 years, 4 months, and 13 days. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, brother Roy, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Natalie Schulz; aunt, Elsie Hilden; godchild, Cory Bauman; cousins and many friends. She leaves her many Sunday School pupils for whom her prayers were that they will all meet again at the Savior's feet. "He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved."
