Edna Estelle Aanes was born April 11, 1886, in Lisbon Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the sixth of 13 children. Her parents were Nils and Louise Aanes, early pioneer settlers in Yellow Medicine County. She attended local schools and Windom College in Montevideo, Minnesota. Before her marriage, she lived in Denver, Colorado, and Butte Montana, an early indication that she had adventure in her soul. Up to her last days, she was always ready to go to new places and to have new experiences. In June, 1916, she was united in marriage to Ole J. Heimark. To this marriage three sons were born: Jacob of St. Davids, Pennsylvania, Edward of Ardmore, Pennsylvania, and Marden of Isle, Minnesota. Ole and Edna spent their days in the Clarkfield community as farmers. Five years ago Ole passed away. She continued to live on the original Heimark homestead with her friend, Julia Heimark, until her death. In her last days while in the wonderful Clarkfield Hospital, she claimed she did not go to her grandson's wedding two weeks ago only because she could not be in two places at one time. Mrs. Heimark passed away Sunday, February 22, 1976. She leaves as survivors one brother, Harold Aanes of Richfield, Minnesota; three sons; 11 grandchildren; and three great grandsons.
