IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edmund Ervin
Leppke
May 11, 1921 – October 27, 2020
Edmund Leppke, 99, died on October 27, 2020. He was born on May 11, 1921, to Fred T. Leppke and Martha (Roske) Leppke, who shared more than 50 years of marriage.
Ed was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was a lifelong member and served as treasurer for many years. Alongside his brothers Harry and Victor, Ed farmed within sight of the St. John's steeple.
When the farm chores were done, he loved to fish for walleyes and hunt. He especially enjoyed a yearly tradition of a fall camping trip to deer hunt in northern Minnesota and, in later years, Montana.
Ed loved the process of restoring antique tractors—attending auctions to bid on old iron in need of repair, scouring tractor shows and swap meets with his brothers and nephews to locate the right part at a bargain price, and then relishing their distinctive rumble when he'd start them up every spring and fall.
In retirement, Ed loved his standing Tuesday pinochle game with good friends at the Boyd Senior Center. He was a loyal Twins fan, win or lose. His loyal rat terrier, Blackie, would share Ed's soft armchair whether he was watching baseball or tractor shows.
Edmund was preceded in death by his parents; Fred and Martha; sister, Lydia (Erhardt) Koepp; brothers, Harry Leppke and Arnold (Elna) Leppke, and nephews, Lyle Leppke, Donald Leppke, and Virgil Koepp. He is survived by his brother, Victor Leppke; nephews, Dennis (Sheila) Koepp, and Arlen (Julie) Koepp; nieces-in-law, Mary Hoffman and Ruth Leppke, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Ed will be missed by all who knew him.
