Edmund Leo Kopitzke, 75, died on Thursday, December 18, 1986 at his home in Clarkfield, Minnesota. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 22, 1986, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Omro Township with Pastor Jon Wolff officiating. The organist was Karen Mamer. Congregational Hymns were "Just As I Am, Without One Plea," "Jesus Thy Blood and Righteousness" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." Casket Bearers were Michael Kopitzke, Donald Kopitzke, Steven Walters, Marvin Piipke, Myron Warner, and Daniel Jarner. Final Resting Place is the St. John's Church Cemetery, Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was born on March 4, 1911, in Omro Township to John and Magdalena (Weigers) Kopitzke. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church on April 9, 1911, by Rev. Fritz. He was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church on May 31, 1925, by Rev. Carl Schmidt. He was married to Elda Piipke on March 10, 1943, at St. John's Lutheran Church. He was active in the church where he served on the board for many years. He farmed many years in Omro Township. They moved to Clarkfield in 1977. His hobby was furniture refinishing for many in Clarkfield and the surrounding areas. He is survived by his wife, Elda of Clarkfield; two brothers, Oscar of Willmar, Minnesota, and Edward of Sherman Oaks, California; sister, Clara Stueland of Clarkfield; and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Magdalena Kopitzke; stepson, Delmar; brothers, Herman, Henry, Otto, and Landow; sisters, Emma Riedeger, Bertha Kerkow, Ida Lachelt, Lydia Lilljestrale, Alma Rikke and an infant sister Hulda.
