Edith Aurora Ronning was born April 26, 1886, at St. James, Minnesota, to John Peter and Anna Martha (Peterson) Lundquist. She graduated from St. James High School in 1904 and taught in rural schools near there for eight years. She attended the University of Minnesota from 1912 - 1914, majoring in domestic science (home economics) and taught in high schools at Villard, Minnesota, Carbonado, Washington, Worthington and Boyd, Minnesota. On June 22, 1922, she was united in marriage to Edward P. Ronning of Ten Mile Lake Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. To this union was born one daughter, Enid. Edward and Edith farmed near Boyd until his death in 1963. She continued to live on the farm enjoying the activities of Trinity Lutheran Church Women, flower gardening, handcrafts and the visits of her grandchildren until a hip injury in 1975 brought her to reside at her daughter and son-in-law's farm home. She entered the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota, December 1, 1978, and the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital January 18, 1980. She passed away on January 28, 1980, at the age of 93 years, 9 months (2 days). She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister Agnes and brothers Guy, Eben, Frank, and Justice. She is survived by her daughter, Enid Hanson and grandchildren Kristi Hanson, Sonya Rustad, Einar, Erik, and Ann Hanson, numerous nieces and nephews. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
