Obituary

Edith Hazel Nilson was born at Brook Park, Minnesota, on September 28, 1918, to Nils M. and Alma (Erickson) Nilson. She was baptized at Brook Park by Pastor Palm. In 1930 they moved to a farm near Boyd, Minnesota. Edith was confirmed at St. Johns Church in Boyd, Minnesota, by I.O. Mallum. On January 28, 1940, Edith was united in marriage with Chester Lavern Clausen by Pastor G.S. Froiland. Their marriage was blessed by a daughter and three sons. Chester and Edith lived most of their married life in the Dawson - Boyd, Minnesota area. They specially observed their 25th anniversary in January, 1965 and would have observed their 40th anniversary in January. Edith was a member of Trinity Luthern Church and loved to go quilting with the women there. Edith passed away suddenly, December 6, 1979, at her home. She is survived by her husband, Chester, and four children: daughter, Gloria, Mrs. Marvin Piipke of Minneota, Minnesota; sons: Dennis of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Lonny and Mike of Dawson, Minnesota. She had 10 grandchildren: Lorie, Daryl, Glenda, Danae, Tammy, Bradley, Danny and Kimmy Piipke and Angela and Gerod Clausen. She is also survived by sisters: Alice Nilson of Boyd, Mae Strand of Oseo, Minnesota, Gena Franter of Esterville, Iowa, Ethel Leenerts of Boyd; and brothers, Merriam, Tony, Lloyd and Everett all of Boyd; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant granddaughter, Brenda Piipke; sister, Irene Iverson; and brother Harold Nilson. Edith was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Many lives were touched by her love for everyone. The day she died she had a birthday card ready with this verse on it and it really was the way Edith was: I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again. --Mahatma Gandhi IN MEMORY OF MRS.
