Edgar A. Lynner was born November 7, 1926, in Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents H. Christian and Clara (Melbostad) Lynner. He was baptized December 5, 1926, and confirmed May 4, 1941, at the Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church. He graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1944 as class Salutatorian. He continued his education at the Universities of Wyoming, Minnesota, Montreal and McGill. He served in the U.S. Army beginning in 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a 36 year veteran with International Multifoods, where his activities in the International arena included extensive time in over 50 countries. Ed's interests included memberships in the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, Sons of Norway, and the American Legion J. Ben Johnson Post 169. He held various positions with the Eldorado Estates Association where he resided. He also served as an election judge, a volunteer for the Twin Cities Marathon, and was an avid patron of theater and the arts. He enjoyed following the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Timberwolves, Twins, and Vikings. He also enjoyed playing whist and bridge. Ed remained committed to and involved with his hometown church and community throughout his adult life. One of his favorite activities was the annual church Harvest Festival, for which he provided his famous spritz cookies. He was known as a gourmet cook and loved to entertain friends and family whenever possible. Ed Lynner passed away June 17, 2007, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, after an extended illness, at the age of 80. He is survived by his brothers, Curtis Lynner of Clarkfield, Minnesota, James Lynner and wife Arlene of Clarkfield; fourteen nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren; cousins; and friends throughout a wide area, especially the Schneider families in Florida and Minnesota. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Margaret Gordon and Marian Nord; brothers-in-law Robert Gordon and Robert Nord; and sister-in-law Ruth Lynner. Ed will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
