(Rude) Hanson

The Hanley Falls community was saddened this week by the deah of Mrs. Oscar O. (Ebba) Hanson. She suffered a massive stroke on June 21, died June 27 at the Granite Falls Hospital, and her funeral services were held Thursday, June 30 at 11:00 a.m. in the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church. In the absence of Pastor Schey, Pastor Berdell Digerness of Hazel Run officiated at the services. Ebba Helena Rude was born November 9, 1899, in Sacred Heart, Minnesota, to Hans G. and Emma Rude. She was baptized and confirmed in Our Savior's Church there. On October 19, 1919, she was married to Oscar O. Hanson of Hanley Falls. They farmed northwest of town until 1960 when they bought a house in town. Mr. Hanson died May 28, 1963. Mrs. Hanson taught Sunday School 14 years, was an active member of the A.L.C.W., was president of the Senior Citizens five years, and loved flowers and entertaining. The Hanson home was often the center for gatherings of family and friends. Five children survive: Ruby (Mrs. John B. Foran) of East Hampton, Connecticut, Edna (Mrs. Joseph M. Nygaard) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Venon Hanson of Mankato, Minnesota, Myrtle (Mrs. Thoralf Benson) of Boyd, Minnesota, and Joan (Mrs. Gene Oftedahl) of Hanley Falls. There are 22 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and three sisters: William and Henry Rude of Granite Falls, Oliver Rude of Van Nuys, California, Mrs. Idah Zierman and Mrs. Glenda Zierman of Minneapolis, and Mrs. James Witkus of Outing, Minnesota. At the funeral a solo, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" was sung by Joey Jorgens, husband of Mrs. Hanson's granddaughter Marjo. Casket Bearers were six grandsons: Jeffry Foran, Wayne and Tom Oftedahl, and Allen, Paul and Michael Riley. IN MEMORY OF MRS. OSCAR O.
