Earl L. Steinman (August 21, 1918 ~ June 29, 2010) Earl Lewis "Bill" Steinman was born on August 21, 1918, in Grant City, Missouri, to parents Luke and Eva Matinda (Lewis) Steinman. He was one of 15 children, with only two remaining. In 1939, he drove from Missouri north until he reached Minnesota. Bill married Mary Elizabeth Tricker, daughter of William and Madge Tricker, on September 2, 1941, in Maryville, Missouri. They were the parents of three children: William, Richard, and Margaret. Bill served in the United States Army from 1941-1943, being stationed in San Antonio, Texas. Bill and Betty farmed southwest of Clarkfield, Minnesota, for many years. They moved to Clarkfield and made their home in the "last house" going west. Bill was active in many things in his community. He enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, car racing, hunting and softball. He was the manager of the Consumers Co-op Softball Team. He helped start the Clarkfield Curling Club and was a member of the Clarkfield Clown Club. He had a passion for antique cars. He passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 8 days. He is survived by his wife, Betty, of near 70 years and his children: William of St. Paul, Minnesota, Richard (and wife Candie) of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Margaret (and husband Jim) Connolly of Ramsey, Minnesota. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Derek Steinman of Portland, Oregon, Chris Steinman of Concord, New Hampshire, Luke Connolly of Blaine, Minnesota, and Mark Connolly of Ramsey, Minnesota; and two great grandchildren: Scott (age 16) and Mykala (age 13). Also surviving are sisters: Goldie Troutwine and Georgie Helen Kidney and sisters-in-law: Jean Steinman and June Steinman. He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings.
