Obituary

Dorothy Alicha (Stonequist) Anderson was born February 14, 1924 in Galveston, Texas to Lorice (Johnson) and Gustav E. Stonequist. She was baptized at United Methodist Church in Galveston. She graduated from Ball High School in 1941. For several years, she worked at American National Insurance Company in Galveston. On February 24, 1946, Dorothy married John Anderson in Houston, Texas where John was stationed in the U.S. Navy. Dorothy then moved to Minneapolis and worked at Daytons until John was discharged from the Navy. Together they moved to Hazel Run, where John resumed farming with his family, In the fall of 1947 they moved out to the family farm, where they spent the next 50 years of their married life. Together John and Dorothy raised four children while farming and contributing to the Community. On December 8, 1946 she was confirmed by Rev. Arnold Olson and became a member of the Hazel Run Lutheran Church, taking an active role in the Ladies Circles, the Quilting Groups, the Cookbook Committee, Library, and. Centennial Book Committee.(She served as Secretary, Historian, and Nominating Committee.) Dorothy also served as leader of the Hazel Run Jolly Workers 4-H Club and President of the American Legion Auxiliary. John and Dorothy enjoyed their 50th Anniversary Party in August 1996. She enjoyed reading, fishing, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. Dorothy passed away early Sunday morning, January 26, 1997 at the Granite Falls Hospital at the age of 72 years, 11 months, and 13 days. She is survived by her husband, John, her four children and spouses: Dennis Anderson of Omaha, NE, Barbara Kludt of St. Paul,.MN, Conine and Brian Kraft of New Brighton, MN, and Donald and Sharon Anderson of rural Hazel Run, MN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jill Greenlee, Kristie Wagner, Shannon Kludt, Patrick and Pamela Anderson, and Molly and Chad Anderson and one great granddaughter. Alicha Lorice Greenlee. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law: Mildred Stonequist, Maysel Homme, and Pearl Anderson and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother Melvin Stonequist. Blessed be her memory.
