Dorothy Molstad, 85, formerly of Cottonwood, Minnesota, passed away at the Granite Manor of Granite Falls, Minnesota, on Tuesday, May 9, 1989. Funeral services for Dorothy Molstad will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, May 12, 1989, from Christ Lutheran Church of Cottonwood with Pastor Arthur W. Holmes officiating. Organist will be Gwen Arneson with vocal music by Eric Anderson. Burial will be in the Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Delbert Geihl, Ray Gigstad, Grover Gniffke, Cecil Hofteig, Orville Michaelson and Norman Myers. Dorothy was born in Lone Tree, lowa, on September 14, 1903, to John and Elizabeth (Hinkley) Bergen. She attended school in Lone Tree, lowa, and graduated from High School there on June 3, 1921. Dorothy married Leo J. Molstad in Iowa City, lowa, on December 20, 1922. On April 15, 1923, she was baptized and confirmed at the English Lutheran Church of Walnut Grove, Minnesota, where she also was organist for many years. Dorothy was a homemaker and housewife who was active with the Cottonwood Senior Citizens and the Cottonwood American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Jean Sjolseth and son Bob Molstad both of Cottonwood; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Mable Molstad of Walnut Grove and Charlotte Bergen of Woodland Hills, California.
