Dorothy Viola Berg was born on September 11, 1918 in Storden, MN to William and Nettie (Olson) Mattison. She attended and later graduated from Bingham Lake High School, Bingham Lake, MN, in 1936. She went on to Beauty School and operated a beauty shop with her twin sister, Donna, in Windom, MN. Other work experiences include parish secretary and a clerical position with the MN Highway Dept. On January 1, 1972, she was united in marriage to Wilhelm S. Berg, Clarkfield, MN in Bingham Lake, MN. Dorothy and Wilhelm continued to farm until Bill's retirement in 1979. They observed their 25th wedding anniversary this past January. Her hobbies included gardening, baking, piano and organ playing. Dorothy was the accompianist at the Spring Creek Lutheran Church for several years. Dorothy died Tuesday, June 17, 1997 at the Clara City Nursing Home. Survivors include her husband, Wilhelm; twin sister, Donna and (Eddie) Holmberg; brother, Milford and (Ruth); sister-in-law, Esther Mattison; step-children, Carol and (Marlow) Norum, Joyce and (Peter Stovel), Charles and (Rose) Berg, Marilyn and (Dennis) Murphy, Margaret and (George) Sommerfeld, Stan and (Paula) Berg; 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bill. Memorials preferred to the Gideon International.
