Funeral services for Dr. Dorothy Niazi were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 1988, from the St. Andrew Catholic Church of Granite Falls, Minnesota. Officiating was Father James Moran. Commentator for the services was Mary Raney with organist Lynn Ness and song leader Marg Martin. Burial was in the Clarkfield City Cemetery. Casket Bearers were Dale Arneson, James Hansen, Jr., William W. Meyer, Philip Minelli, Virgil Mogard and William "Butch" Richter. Dr. Dorothy Niazi, 67, passed away at the San Joaquin Hospital, Bakersfield, California, on Tuesday, August 9, 1988. Dr. Dorothy Niazi was born February 24, 1921, in Dallas, Texas, to Roy and Betty (Milway) Garrison. On March 5, 1951, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she was united in marriage to Dr. Suad Niazi. Dorothy attended undergraduate schools in Texas and received her Bachelor degree from Hamline University in 1970 and later four Masters degrees from the College of St. Thomas. Her M.D. degree was received in 1982 from Cetec University Medical School. Dr. Niazi was very active in community affairs. She helped a great number of people. The Clarkfield Community Hospital received a great deal of her care, attention and support. Scholarship and donation funds have been given to Hamline University and the College of St. Thomas. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Dr. Suad Niazi of 6600 Saddleback Drive, Bakersfield, California 93309, formerly of Granite Falls, Minnesota and Clarkfield, Minnesota; her son, Dr. James Dwight Elkjer of Los Angeles, California; her daughter Darlene Williams of Kansas City, Kansas; nine grandchildren; her step-mother, Letha Garrison of Park City, Kentucky; one sister, Delma Margaret Chrisman; and one brother, Roy Garrison, Jr., both of Carrollton, Texas.
