Doris Bernice Aakvik, age 93, of Clarkfield died on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the Clarkfield Care Center. Funeral services will be held at the Clarkfield Care Center at a later date. Burial will be at the Clarkfield Lutheran Cemetery. Doris Bernice Aakvik was born on May 4, 1921, in Hanley Falls, Minnesota, to George and Vivian Hegna and was baptized June 29, 1921, at the Bethlehem Hauge Lutheran Church. She was confirmed May 12, 1935, at the Yellow Medicine Luteran Church. She attended school in Hanley Falls. On March 29, 1942, she married Carl Aakvik at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. After living in different places they moved from Minneapolis to Montevideo to retire. She is survived by sister, Margaret Craig of Savage; brother, Glenn and Elene Hegna of Bird Island; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was proceeded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents George and Vivian Hegna; her brothers: Jerry and Donald; her sisters: Audrey Nelson, Mavis Boeke, Carol Peterson and Norma Hagen.
