Doris Winge, 67, died June 22, 1988, at her home in Boyd, Minnesota. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 25, 1988, 10:30 a.m., Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd with Pastor Jeff Swanson officiating. Organist was Minnie Hermanson and soloist was Burnell Rikke. Final Resting Place was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery of Boyd, Minnesota. Honorary Casket Bearers were Roland Bengston, Mathew Dames, Burdett Kise, Loren Steinke, Wendell Willander and LeRoy Winge. Active Casket Bearers were her three sons-in-law Dennis Long, Jerry Nilson and Dan Dames and her three grandsons Kevin Nilson and Jason and Brian Long. Doris Arlene Winge was born October 9, 1920, in Walnut Grove, Minnesota, to John and Emma (Wig) Alstad. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and on April 14, 1935, she was confirmed by Pastor John Mason at Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Montevideo, Minnesota. On September 3, 1938, she was married to Gordon Winge at Watertown, South Dakota. Five children were born to this union. Doris was a housewife and her greatest love was her family and friends. She was never to busy for anyone and devoted most of her time to those who needed her. She was a kind and gentle lady. Doris is survived by her husband, Gordon of Boyd; her three daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Daniel Dames of St. Paul, Minnesota, Gail and Dennis Long of Canby, Minnesota, Julie and Jerry Nilson of Boyd; her two sons, Neil and Bruce both of Boyd; and one sister, Helen Zimmerman. She is also survived by her seven grandchilden, Ronda Inman, Kristen Guzman, Leah Jacobson, Mathew Dames, Jason and Brian Long and Kevin Nilson; three great grandchildren, Brook and Joshua Long and Ryan Cook.
