IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorie E.

December 3, 1937 – January 22, 1988
Dorie E. Higgin, 50, of Clarkfield, Minnesota, died Friday, January 22, 1988, at Ramsey Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, as the result of injuries sustained in a car accident December 30,1987. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 1988, at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota, with Pastor Peter Dorn of Clarkfield Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and Pastor Bill Malam of Cross of Glory Baptist Church of Hopkins, Minnesota officiating. The organist was Rhoda Nelson with selections "One Day At A Time" by Howard Doble; "The King Is Coming" by Ross and Kayann Riecke and "It Took A Miracle" by Arita Malam. Final Resting Place is Clarkfield City Cemetery, Clarkfield, Minnesota. She was born December 3, 1937, to Fred and Violet (Cox) Fuoss in Hendricks, Minnesota. They farmed between Gary, South Dakota and Marietta, Minnesota, while Dorie was growing up. Her early training was in Cosmetology at the Vo-Tech in Willmar, Minnesota. She became a hairdresser and throughout her life always cut each family members hair and helped set permanents for her daughters and others. Later she returned to the Vo-Tech for LPN training. She spent several years as Kandiyohi County Nurse and worked with all school children in the county. It was her love because she did what she had always wanted to do, help people. Once she became publisher of the Clarkfield Advocate, along with husband Byron, she started getting involved in the community. It wasn't long and she helped form Women-In-Action; sat on the PER Education Committee; the AIDS Committee of the Countryside Public Health Service, started "Concerts In The Park" in Clarkfield and because of her great love for "crafts" she started the store "Imaginations Unlimited". Her love for crafts never ended. They kept her busy day and night. Few have forgotten the way she organized Clarkfield's "100th Birthday Party," in an attempt to "prolong" the Centennial Celebration of Clarkfield in 1984. In addition to her family and friends, Dorie "LOVED" Clarkfield. She was a member of the Clarkfield Alliance Church where she continued to serve her Lord as a Sunday School teacher and youth leader. She was ALWAYS active in church-related activities. She also cared for "about" 150 foster children during the time she lived in Willmar. She is survived by husband Byron; sons Rick and wife Sue Klavetter of Willmar, Tom Klavetter of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, Jeff and wife Julie Meyer of Clarkfield, son Josh Higgin of Clarkfield and son Steven and family of Willmar; daughters Barb and husband Bruce Isaacson of Willmar and Brenda and husband Dwight Hubers of Willmar; grandchildren Tanya, Michael and Kimberly Isaacson of Willmar and Bobbi Hubers of Willmar; father Fred Fuoss of Marietta; brothers Don and wife Elaine of Madison and Dick and wife Sandy of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sisters Bonnie and husband Dennis Hoyles of Marietta and Lois and husband Robert Riley of Raymond, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by mother Violet, sister Shirley Nelson and son Lonnie Meyer. Higgin To know love is to live and blossom as a rose. To open to all the beauty of heaven and earth. To know love is to see beauty in the singing of birds and the fragrance of flowers blooming in the spring. You have given me this beauty. Without you there would be no beauty in tomorrow and no sunshine in today. With each squeeze of the hand or sound of your voice life blossoms a little more fully, surroundings become a little more beautiful. Love can be the most lasting, most meaningful thing two people can know; it's all the yesterdays, todays and tomorrows tied up into the moments spent together. With you there are no sad yesterdays, no uncertain tomorrows, just the beauty of today. Without you what is life? It's awakening to a day only to hope for the night to be able to sleep into a new dawn; only to want it to pass again into the future of the aged, where one can sit back and wait for the curtain of life to pull down before them.
