Dora Nelson, 96, died June 8. 1988, at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson, Minnesota. Funeral services were held June 10, 1988, 2:00 p.m., at the Clarkfield United Methodist Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota, with Pastor Wayne Shelton officiating. Bea Forsberg was organist and Murvel Loomis and Virginia Hagg provided vocal music. Casket Bearers were Fred Eckhardt, Robert Erickson, Boyd Long, Wayne Dahl, Gene Ness and Keith Stroup. Final Resting Place was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Boyd, Minnesota. Dora Freyer Nelson was born June 24, 1891, at Bristow, Iowa. She came to Minnesota with her parents Andrew and Catherine (Thusen) Freyer in 1902. She lived in and near Clarkfield until 1913 when she married Ervin Nelson. Three children were born to them: Allen Dale, Earl LeRoy and Harriet Elaine. They lived on a farm east of Boyd until 1942 when they moved to Boyd. She lived there until her health began to fail and she moved to the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson. She was a member of the Christian Church in Iowa and attended the Methodist Church in Clarkfield after she moved to Minnesota. Her family joined the Methodist Church in June 1932. She accepted Christ as her Savior when she was 10 years old. She was active in church work and W.C.T.U. until her later years. Dora is preceded in death by her sons and parents. She is survived by her daughter Harriet and husband Reuben of Spicer, Minnesota; grandson David and wife Joanne; and two great grandchildren Sarah and Amy Johnson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; sister-in-law Margaret Nelson of Boyd; and several nieces and nephews.
