Obituary

Donavon Dean Williams was born on December 4, 1922, in Amiret Township, Tracy, Minnesota, to parents Harold and Mabel (Yost) Williams. He graduated from Tracy High School. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Basilica in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in May of 1944. Donavon married Vera Engels on June 24, 1944, at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent, Minnesota. The Williams lived in Minneapolis for about two years and then moved to Ghent and lived there for about one year. They moved to their farm east of Clarkfield and raised their three sons, Tom, Steve, and Jim. 'Bill' and Vera lived on their farm for 27 years and then moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota, where they have resided for 26 years. Bill had many sport related interests. He enjoyed baseball, softball, the Twins and the Vikings. He liked to play cards, gardening (especially raspberries), and playing with the Grandchildren. Donovan passed away at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota, on Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at the age of 82 years, 4 months, and 2 days. He is survived by his wife, Vera, of Clarkfield; and his sons: Tom of Crystal, Minnesota, Steve of Kent, Washington, and Jim (and Pam) of Clarkfield. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Todd, Sara, Mike, Laura, Matt, and T.J.; and two great grandchildren: Grace Williams and Hogen Williams. Also surviving are his siblings: Sisters Marge (and Merlyn) Cadwell and Katie (and Ted) Versluys, brothers: Arnie and Allen Williams, and sister Diane (and David) Karlstad; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Elmer, Darvin, Lloyd, and Carrol; and sister Beverly Karlstad. Blessed be his memory.
