Donald William Schweer was born July 2, 1923 in Mankato, Minnesota, to Agnes L. (Morrow) and Raymond A. Schweer. Don graduated from Waldorf High School in Waldorf, Minnesota, and attended Gustavus Adolphus College and graduated from Mankato State University. Don married Berneice Johnson in 1944. To this union four children were born: Craig, Teri, Brian, and Todd. Don and Berneice farmed at Mapleton, Minnesota, for 14 years until 1958 when he began his teaching career in Clarkfield, Minnesota. There Donald taught until his retirement in 1986. Donald was active in the communities of Mapleton and Clarkfield. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, treasurer of Augustana Lutheran Church and President of the Mapleton Burns Club. He also taught courses for the University of Minnesota-Morris. He enjoyed curling and was on the Clarkfield City Council for many years. Donald passed away on Thursday, August 26, 1993 at his residence in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife Berneice; daughter Teri and son-in-law Thomas McCausland of Clarkfield; sons: Craig and wife Terri of Montevideo; Brian and wife Bette of Clarkfield; and Todd and wife Jeanine of Marshall, Minnesota. He is also survived by grandchildren: Pati (Myron) McCausland-Faller, Michael McCausland, Casey McCausland, Graham Schweer, Erika Schweer, Katherine Schweer, Benjamin Schweer, Isaac Schweer, Claire Schweer; step-grandson Michael Lundin; and one great grandchild: Cameron Faller. Donald is also survived by one brother, Robert Schweer (wife Thelma), and two sisters: Louise (husband Gordon) Bartelt; and Ruth (husband Donald Roesler). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by an infant sister, his parents: Raymond and Agnes Schweer, and step mother: Elsie Schweer.
