Obituary

DONALD J. RONKEN (September 18, 1947 - February 27, 2011) DONALD JON RONKEN was born in Huron, South Dakota, on September 18, 1947, to parents Phillip and Irid (Peterson) Ronken. He joined three sisters: Phyllis, Sheryl and Janice. The family moved from South Dakota when Don was eight years old and settled in Dawson, Minnesota. After a few years attending school there, the family relocated to Klinton, Mississippi. Don attended public school there and later received his GED. Don turned 21 while in Boot Camp. He spent time at Andrews Air Force Base, California, and Memphis, Tennessee for aviation. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1967-1973. Don fought in Viet Nam. Following the service he worked for a while in Mississippi at a stereo cabinet factory sanding wood cabinets. In December of 2002, with his health at a low, he entered Minneapolis Veterans Home and in 2008 was transferred to the Clarkfield Care Center. He passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Care Center at the age of 63 years. He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly and sisters: Phyllis Fisher of Madison, Minnesota, Sheryl Sellers of Bend, Oregon, and Janice Bodnar of Big Lake, Minnesota. A memorial service will be held later this spring at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Arrangements by Lynner Funeral Home Since 1891 Clarkfield Minnesota
