Obituary

An overflow crowd, which filled the basement at Trinity Lutheran Church, paid respect to Don Hermanson, 42, Tuesday afternoon, January 23, 1973. The young man, son of the late D.E. Hermanson, John Deere Implement dealer here, and Minnie (Refseth) Hermanson, now of Dawson, Minnesota, passed away in his sleep at his home on Friday, January 19, 1973. He has suffered with a heart ailment for years and had submitted to several surgeries. Donald Marlin Hermanson was born in Ten Mile Lake Township of Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, December 10, 1930. He attended the Boyd School until his junior year and graduated from Veblen High School of Veblen, South Dakota in 1948 He attended the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was united in marriage in April of 1953 to Betty Lou Saumer of Montevideo, Minnesota. Don worked in Minneapolis in 1954 and 1955 and since has farmed in the Boyd area. He took over the John Deere Implement business in Clarkfield in 1968 after his father's death and later continued the business along with his farming on the place south of Boyd. He was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd, in community and county affairs. Left to mourn his early departure are his wife, Betty; five children: Debra, Vickie, Craig, Douglas and Richard; his mother, Minnie Hermanson of Dawson; two brothers: Vernell and family of Boyd and Roger and family of Goldsboro, North Carolina; many aunts and uncles and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Durven, and an infant brother DeRoy Merlin. IN MEMORY OF DONALD M.
