Diana Nina (Nelson) Hanson September 19, 1924 ~ June 2, 2014 Diana Nina (Nelson) Hanson was born in Clarkfield on September 19, 1924, to Adolph (Shorty) Melvin and Mabel Josephine (Cliffgard) Nelson. She was baptized at home on November 7th, 1924, confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church on June 4th, 1939, and graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1942. She married Arvey Roy Hanson, a classmate from Clarkfield, on March 25th, 1960. She and Arvey farmed just outside of Clarkfield until retirement in 1987. Diana taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church Ladies Aide, Clarkfield American Legion Auxiliary, and Clarkfield Care Center Auxiliary and belonged to the Lisbon Garden Club. Diana loved to bowl, especially with her husband, and bowled on a ladies team for many years. During her career, Diana worked at Kohn's Department Store in Oakland, California, Christopherson Implement, Post Office, Farmers Elevator all in Clarkfield, and nearly 30 years at the Clarkfield Care Center as Nurse's Aide, Bookeeper, Activities and Dietary and many years of various volunteer work. She had three brothers: Merald (Bud), Lloyd and Donald along with sisters: Abigail and twin sister, Dora. Diana is survived by her three children: Sylvia and husband Kenneth Bacon of Minneapolis, Allen and wife Gail Hanson of Clarkfield and Catherine and husband Bradley Peterson of Ham Lake. She is also survived by four grandsons: Adam (Eva) Hanson, Joshua (Leah) Hanson, Seth Hanson, Mitch (Nicole) McDonald and four great granddaughters: Audrey, Bellamy, Ella, Avery. She has one surviving sister, her twin, Dora Hanson of Remer; along with many nieces and nephews. Diana was preceded in death by her husband, Arvey; her parents and brothers: Merald (Bud), Lloyd, Donald; and sister, Abigail. Monday when Mom took her last breath here on earth, God wiped away her struggles with Alzheimer's. Her love for entertaining family, hospitality, homemade baked goods and expertise for serving large groups of family will be missed by all of us. Blessed be her memory. In Loving Memory of Diana N.
