IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dewayne R
Simpson
July 19, 1928 – July 19, 1928
Dewayne R. Simpson was born on July 19, 1928, in Grant County, South Dakota, to parents Raymond and Agnetta (Lindberg) Simpson. He was baptized and confirmed at Tabor Lutheran Church in Strandburg, South Dakota. He graduated in 1947 from the Vocational High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After graduation, he attended Dunwoody Institute and was then drafted into the United States Army in November of 1950. He was medically discharged May 30, 1951. Dewayne and Eunice Halvorson were married on March 16, 1951, in Clarkfield, Minnesota. They were the parents of two children: Wayne and Paula. He and Eunice operated the Corner Store in Clarkfield until 1955. They then moved to Minneapolis where he was employed at Thermo King and later at Sears Roebuck as a warehouse supervisor. Eunice passed away unexpectedly in a motor vehicle accident in November of 1983. He then lived in Forest Lake, Minnesota, until meeting Blanche Lynne. They were married in October of 1987, at which time he relocated back to Clarkfield. This union expanded the family with Blanche's children: Barb, Nancy, Jan and their families. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending his time at his cabin on Mille Lacs Lake. He loved when the family would bring out the instruments and the toe taping and dancing would begin. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed watching Minnesota sporting events on TV. He spent much of his time playing cards with Blanche and their friends. Dewayne passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009, at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, Minnesota, at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 7 days. He is survived by his wife Blanche of Clarkfield, children: Wayne of Isle, Minnesota, and Paula (and Tony) Thompson of LaQuinta, California, and grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Rasmussen, Aaron Simpson, Sean Simpson and Ryan Thompson; and Blanche's family, Barb (and Rodney) Bruflat, Todd and Kelly, Nancy (and Phil) Sturlaugson, Daniel and Trina, and Jan Falkum, Tom and Aimee. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Eunice, and brother, Marly Simpson. He has touched many people's lives and will be greatly missed.
