Dennis Johnke September 25, 1927 - June 11, 2016 Dennis Johnke, of Clarkfield, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 88. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church in Clarkfield. Rev. David Peterson will officiate and interment will be at Rock Dell Lutheran Cemetery, rural Belview. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before the service. Dennis William Johnke was born September 25, 1927, at Granite Falls, Minnesota, the son of Adolph and Clara (Oetting) Johnke. He was baptized October 16, 1927, at Wood Lake and confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1941. He grew up in Wood Lake and graduated from high school in 1946. Dennis was united in marriage with Margaret Lucy in 1952 and served in the US Army during the Korean War. After his discharge, he was united in marriage with Doris Iverson August 16, 1957, in Echo, MN. They made their home in Wood Lake for a short time before moving to Clarkfield. Dennis worked as an auto mechanic for Clarkfield Motor Sales before starting his own shop in the early 1970s. He retired in the mid 1990s. Dennis continued to live in Clarkfield and moved into Valhalla Apartments before moving to Home Front in Montevideo and then to the Clara City Nursing Home in November of 2014. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and smelting. He also liked to roller skate when he was younger and also listening to music. He had a passion for collecting Shirley Temple dolls. He is survived by seven children: Denise Johnke of Florala, AL, Dorothy (Mark) Korstad of Sioux Falls, SD, MaryAnn (Steve) Oakland of Clarkfield, MN, Barb (Arlin) Angrimson of Montevideo, MN, Larry (Robin) Johnke of Clarkfield, MN, Joyce (Blaine) Hustad of Dawson, MN and Valerie Peterson of Clarkfield, MN; 14 grandchildren: Daniel (Erin) Kostad, Jennifer (Ryan) Plooster, Melissa (Troy) Larson, Scott Oakland, Beth (Matthew Kellen) Angrimson, Anthony Angrimson, Stephen (Kayla) Johnke, Bradley (Liliana Rojas) Hustad, Brittany Hustad, Trisha (Jason) Stee, Angela (Aaron) Quesenberry, Andrea (Justin) Nelson, Arron Johnke, and Carmen Peterson; and 18 great- grandchildren: Sydney, Lyndsey, Brayden, Camden, Cadyn, Nolan, Jack, Audree, Haylee, Caleb, Levi, Reid, Jase, Victoria, Riley, Kayden, Austin, and Briella.
