Obituary

DeLight (Trandahl) Brookins (November 22, 1934 ~ May 6, 2013) Life, despite its problems, can be unexpected, crazy, beautiful and ultimately worth celebrating. We are here today to celebrate the 'Life of DeLight Brookins.' DeLight was created and came into view November 22, 1934, to Alfred and Ora (Soppeland) Trandahl. She was second in a line of six. They were a farming family and lived the struggles and joys of a farm life which included Jesus. Every Sunday they would all get ready and head out to Israel Lutheran Church. After DeLight grew and graduated from high school, she decided to leave this "country life" and try the "big City." She took a job at Bell Telephone Company, but her life soon brought her back to Clarkfield. She and her husband Jack (John) Lynne, Sr. raised their five children. As kids got older and with the challenges of life, DeLight ended up in Montevideo where she lived and worked. Here she met some of her dear lifelong friends and her husband Denny. DeLight and Denny were married August, 24th, 1984. They moved to Alexandria where they started a business together and enjoyed the amenities. Fishing and flee markets were in their top five. DeLight and Denny made some wonderful friends in Alexandria which they missed when they decided to move back to Clarkfield to be closer to family. "GrmaDee" was an artist at heart and all generations got to enjoy painting, drawing and doodling with her. Scribble pictures were a favorite. She also loved to play games, but Battleship was a challenge. DeLight was competitive and did not care how old you were, she was going to "sink your battleship." She had dress-up parties and taught the kids about BLING and BEDAZZLE. She would always set a pretty table and made her family some delicious food. As the families grew and got too busy, DeLight started having nice long chats with her siblings on Saturday mornings, which she thoroughly enjoyed. TV became a good source of entertainment at the Brookins. We all knew not to call during "Survivor." Sass and spunk followed DeLight all the way to Mayo, where she finally decided she would rather go home to Jesus. She left Monday, May 6th at 6:30 a.m. with Denny by her side. DeLight accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, according to Romans 10:8-10, which is the best part of DeLight's life. She is now dancing on "Dazzling" streets of gold. We are certain that she is enjoying that. We look forward to seeing her again and hope that you will join us. (John 3:1-7 and Romans 10:8- 10) DeLight, sparkling diamond, shine on with Jesus.
