IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Delbert Charles
Fierstine
December 8, 1915 – March 14, 1942
Delbert Charles Fierstine was born December 8, 1915, at Gary, South Dakota, to Earl and Wava (Peters) Fierstine. At the time of his death, he was 53 years old. Delbert moved to Clarkfield with his parents and family, where he lived until the time of his death. He joined the U. S. Army on March 14, 1942, during World War II and was a half-track driver. He served at Normandy, North France, Rhineland, Ardennnes and Central Europe. He was discharged on October 15, 1945. After his discharge from the army, he worked on road construction for a few years prior to beginning work at Consumers Co-op Oil Company. Mr. Fierstine, a driver for Western Transport Company, had unloaded gas at Echo, Minnesota, Wednesday morning, June 11, 1969, made out his delivery ticket in the cab of the truck and then presumably passed away from a heart attack. As his truck was overdue, the management checked the route and he was found 22 hours later. He had been with the trucking firm the past six years and previous to that served the local Consumers Co-op for about nine years. He is survived by his three brothers and two sisters: Mrs. Marie Craig, St. Paul, Ray Fierstine, Marshall, John of Zimmerman, Mrs. Ione Phillips of Alameda, California, Donald of Ortonville; and seventeen nieces and nephews.
