DEAN ALLEN JACOBSON was born on March 28, 1955, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was raised by parents Harland F. and Norma E. (Smolley) Jacobson on a farm in Normania Township, of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Spring Creek Lutheran Church of Normania Township and remained a member there to its closing. He attended elementary school in Hanley Falls, Minnesota and was a 1973 graduate of Clarkfield High School. Following High School, Dean attended Vocational School in Canby, Minnesota, for two years. Dean married Betty Lou Ziegler on August 13, 1977, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Elmore, Minnesota. They were the parents of two children: Sabrina and Craig. They lived at Blue Earth, Minnesota, where Dean worked at the International Implement Co. as a partsman. He then worked for Telex Communication at Blue Earth. The family moved to the Hanley Falls, Minnesota area in 1979, to farm with his father, who was in poor health. In 1992, Dean met Theresa Bostic and have been friends since. He lived on his farm near Hanley Falls and enjoyed farming, camping, fishing and being with his friends and family. He had been a faithful Sexton of Spring Creek Cemetery, even after its closing. Dean passed away at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Thursday morning, May 23, 2002, at the age of 47 years, 1 month, and 25 days. He is survived by his children: Sabrina (and fiance Steven Maus) of Granite Falls, Minnesota, and Craig Allen of Montevideo, Minnesota. He is also survived by his fiance Theresa Bostic and her daughter Anna and Jaiden Bostic (and friend Cliff Bahr); his granddaughter Morgan Faye Ziegler; and former wife Betty Ziegler. He is also survived by his uncles and aunts: Godparents, Kenneth and Kathleen Jacobson, Don and Clarice & Smolley, Lillian Palmgren, Shirley Smolley, and Bob Brock; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harland (1992) and Norma (1999). Blessed be his memory.
