David Lukken April 14th, 1952 - January 31st, 2017 David Lukken, of rural Boyd, died Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at the Chippewa County- Montevideo Hospital at the age of 64. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd with Rev. Lori Wold officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. David Lukken was born on April 14, 1952, in Montevideo to Donald and Alyce (Westgard) Lukken. He grew up on a farm in the Clarkfield area. He attended school and graduated from Clarkfield High School. For a period of time David worked in the construction area with Minnesota Valley and drove route truck for AMPI. His real love was farming and he was able to farm with his father and later on would farm on his own. He added cattle farming to his operation and really enjoyed that aspect of farming. He married Laurel Wilson on February 14, 1976, in Hazel Run. They had two boys together, Nick and Nathan. Family remembers that David enjoyed the simple life. In early years he had a few hobbies such as ice fishing and camping but most of his time was spent on the farm, watching his crops grow and tending to the animals. David loved hearing about both of his sons' work and his grandchildren and always kept up with what they were doing. Since he lived all his life in the Clarkfield and Boyd area he knew almost everyone and always appreciated visiting with friends and family. David is survived by his wife, Laurel; his sons: Nick (Amy) and Nathan Lukken; his mother, Alyce Lukken; grandchildren: Keegan, Jayden, Elizabeth and Collin; sister, Barb (Paul) Flykt of Alexandria, MN, and brother-in-law, Claire (Lynda) Wilson as well as other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald; uncle and aunt, Homer and Doris Vesta; father and mother-in-law, Donald and Lorraine Wilson and sister-in-law, Janet Westre.
