Darlene Yvonne (Timgren) Eye was born on August 18, 1933, in Montevideo to parents Lawrence and Betsy (Peterson) Timgren. She was baptized at Silo Lutheran Church in Cottonwood and confirmed at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls. Darlene attended school in Cottonwood and Hanley Falls and graduated in 1951. She then attended Mankato Teachers College and taught school in Renville. On October 8, 1955, she was united in marriage to James Eye in Hanley Falls. They farmed his family farm near Hanley Falls until retirement in 2003, when they moved to Granite Falls. Darlene was active in Homemaker's Club, American Legion Auxiliary, church choir, WELCA and circle. She was an Avon Representative, Foster Grandparent at the Tech School and a member of "The Red Hat Society." She passed away Sunday, October 28, 2007, at Riverside Assisted Living in Granite Falls, at the age of 74 years. She is survived by her husband, James Eye, of Granite Falls; one son, Kevin (Cindy) Eye of Hanley Falls; two daughters: Carla (Al) Vanderberg of Spencer, Iowa, and Kerri (Brian) Hoernemann of Waconia, Minnesota, and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Lynn (Ginger) Timgren of Phoenix, Arizona, and two sisters: DeAnn Peterson of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Julie (Jim) Bevan of Plato, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Betsy Timgren.
