Obituary

Daniel Danielson was born on October 2, 1893, near Aberdeen, South Dakota, the son of Hans and Tilda Danielson. When Daniel was four years old his mother was stricken with typhoid fever and died, whereupon Mr. Danielson sold his farm and moved to a farm near Hazel Run. Daniel grew up in the Hazel Run community and was confirmed by Rev. Salhus in this church on May 16, 1909. He served several months overseas in the First World War and was a member of the Wood Lake American Legion Post. Following his discharge from the Army, he returned to Hazel Run where he worked for many years. He then moved to Wood Lake where he has made his home. He began working on the railroad a number of years ago. On June 29, 1953, he met with an accident which instantly took his life. Mr. Danielson, an employee of the M. & St. L Railroad, died while operating a rail weed cutter near Mason City, Iowa. He leaves to mourn his passing a half-sister, Mrs. Alva Anderson of Spring Valley, Wisconsin; a sister, Clara Halverson of Fort Steilacoom, Washington; a half-brother, Olender of Cottonwood, Minnesota; 13 nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Mrs. N.C. Anderson of Spring Valley, Minnesota.
