Dagne Smiens, of Clarkfield, died February 8, 2016, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 62. Memorial services will be held Friday, February 12, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Clarkfield Lutheran Church with Rev. Chris Zuraff officiating. Interment will be at Clarkfield Lutheran Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Dagne Elizabeth Smiens was born June 4, 1953, to Orville and Elise (Westre) Husby in Clarkfield, Minnesota. She grew up in the Clarkfield area and graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1971. Dagne married Arnie Smiens on October 21, 1972, at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. They made their home in Colorado for a period of time and moved to International Falls in 1980, then to Winona in 1984 and later to Montevideo in 1986. Dagne was a devoted mother to their three children: Michelle, Jeremy, and Carrie. She had been a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center since 2000. Dagne is survived by her children: Jeremy (Sarah) Smiens of Montevideo and Carrie (Brent) Van Binsbergen of Montevideo and their father Arnie Smiens; seven grandchildren: Kaitlyn (John O'Connor) Anspach, Brett (Emily Lengquist) Anspach, Brett Smiens, Erin Smiens, Braden Smiens, Gwyn Smiens and Madison Van Binsbergen; two great-grandchildren: Jaxon Anspach and Brantley O'Connor; her mother, Elise Husby of Clarkfield; a brother, Wes (Sharon) Husby of Clarkfield; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
