D. Duane Rasmussen May 8th, 1932 - May 18th, 2016 D. Duane Rasmussen, of Clarkfield, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 84. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. at Clarkfield Lutheran Church with Rev. Chris Zuraff officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church. Durwood Duane Rasmussen was born May 8, 1932, at St. Peter, Minnesota, the son of Hans and Iris (Scott) Rasmussen. He was baptized and confirmed at Bread Of Life in May of 1954. Duane graduated from Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf in 1952. He also attended Dunwoody Institute in 1954 and 1955. Duane was united in marriage with Dorothy Mae Bly June 5, 1954, at Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls, Minnesota. They made their home in International Falls from 1955-1970 where he worked for the city. They moved to Clarkfield in 1970 and he worked at AMPI until retiring in 1994. He enjoyed fixing cars doing both mechanic and body work. He also liked cabinet making, upholstery work, building and remodeling, and fishing. He liked to walk around town stopping and talking with people. Duane was a member of the West Valley Club for the deaf. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three children: Debra Rasmussen of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Perry (Clarice) Rasmussen of New Ulm, Minnesota, and Elizabeth Braun of Cocoa Beach, Florida; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; four brothers: Alvin (Diane) Rasmussen of Gold Canyon, Arizona, Richard Rasmussen of Wyoming, John (Shirley) Rasmussen of Montgomery, Minnesota, and Dennis (Diane) Rasmussen of Rosemount, Minnesota; three sisters: Jean (Bob) Friesen of Vacaville, California, Gwen (John Jr.) Lundy of Clarkfield, Minnesota, and Caroline (Bob) Stankiewitz of Citrus Heights, California; a sister-in-law, Geri Rasmussen of Honolulu, Hawaii; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers: Loyd (Darlene) and Merlin; a grandson, Jared Braun; great grandson, Josiah David Vetter; and a son-in-law, Brent Braun.
