Cyril Julius Johnson, the son of Michael and Petra (Grinager) Johnson was born on March 17, 1900, at Wilder, Minnesota. He was baptized at the Delafield Lutheran Church on April 20, 1900, by the Rev. Hagen and confirmed at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church in 1915 by Rev. O.T. Storaasli. He was engaged in the business of meat marketing in the towns of Clarkfield, Hazel Run and Hanley Falls until the time of his retirement in 1962. While at Hanley Falls he met Anna Kjelleberg of that community and the two were united in marriage at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church on July 27, 1941, by the Rev. Alf Jorgenson. To this union one daughter, Janice, was born. Mr. Johnson's health had been failing during the past few years and he passed from this life at the Willmar Hospital on the evening of November 10, 1969, at the age of 69 years. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Oscar, Elmer, John and Charles. He is survived by his wife, Anna of Hanley Falls and his daughter, Janice Nelson of Granite Falls; a brother, Melvin of Saskatchewan, Canada and five sisters: Mrs. Oscar Nesterud of Madelia, Mrs. William Lee of Clarkfield, Mrs. Pearl Olson of St. Paul, Mrs. Agnes Lodoen of Alberta, Canada, and Mrs. Frank Steinbicer of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; and two grandchildren, Anita and Andrea.
