Curtis M. Nelson was born September 19, 1948, in Chippewa County to Herbert and Dorothy (Dahl) Nelson. He was baptized at Opdahl Lutheran Church of rural Sacred Heart, Minnesota, and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Montevideo, Minnesota, on May 17, 1964. Curtis was a graduate of Montevideo High School in 1967 and attended two years of trade school at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Carol Quenemoen on October 17, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd, Minnesota. They lived their first two years of marriage in Madison, Minnesota, and in 1973 moved to Boyd, Minnesota. For most of those years, Curtis was employed at Victor Fluid Power of Granite Falls, Minnesota, as a Machinist. He was an active member of the Boyd Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad. Curt's interests included sports of all kinds; especially watching his sons participate in football and wrestling. Most of all. Curt loved spending time with his family. Curtis passed away on December 19, 1989, at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 41. Curtis is survived by his wife, Carol and two sons, Cory and Kyle of Boyd; his father, Herbert of Montevideo; sister, Kathy Hovda and husband Charles, and nephews, Chris and Eric of Clavis, California; brother, Craig of Montevideo; his in-laws, Harvey and Lornetta Quenemoen of Boyd; Richard and Lois Moen of Anoka, Minnesota; niece, Kimberli (Mrs. Mike) Urguhart of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and nephew, Rick Moen of Anoka. Curtis was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy (Dahl) Nelson.
