Corinne Sommerfeld, daughter of Lee and Anna (Podhasky) Cole, was born on March 15, 1916, at Canby, Minnesota. She was baptized in the Christian faith in 1930 in The Presbyterian Church at Canby. She was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. On July 3, 1940, she was united in marriage to George Sommerfeld at St. John's of Omro. The Lord blessed their marriage with four children, one son and three daughters. Mr. & Mrs. Sommerfeld moved to Montevideo, Minnesota, in 1978, transferring church membership from St. John's Lutheran Church in Madison, Minnesota. She had open heart surgery in 1979 and a stroke in February of 1981. Corrine was a person who enjoyed people. Her main hobby was sewing. She had a good sense of humor and was always able to find a spot of good in everything. She was called out of this life on October 13, 1982, after an extended illness, at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 28 days. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. She leaves to mourn her departure her bereaved husband, George; three daughters: Joan of San Francisco, California, Sharon of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sandra of Killeen, Texas; one son George, Jr. of New Hope, Minnesota; one sister, Mrs. Harold (Gladys) Pearson of Canby; two brothers, Warren Cole of Marysville, Washington, and Leo Cole of Wadena, Minnesota; two grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
