Cora Ree, daughter of Haakon and Anlaug (Rowberg) Brusven, was born February 7, 1892, in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith at St. Lucas Lutheran Church by Rev. Knut Thorstenson, confirmed by Rev. Martin Romstad and was a lifelong active member of the congregation and the ladies aid until her health failed. On November 25, 1914, she was united in marriage to Torjus Ree. To this union two children were born: Ardell (Mrs. Nalum Lerstad) and Harold, who preceded her in death, being killed while he was on official duty in the service of his country. During the past seven years, her health had been failing and on November 19, 1963, she entered the Granite Falls Hospital due to a heart attack. On February 4, 1964, she submitted to surgery and seemingly recovered quite well, but later, her health failed and on April 4, 1964, she reentered the hospital. She passed from this life April 11, 1964, having reached the age of 72 years. She was a loving wife and mother, a hospitable hostess and always much concerned with her devotional life. She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Ardell; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Miller and Hilda (Mrs. Edward Fyksen) both of Minneapolis; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends and other relatives.
