Cora S. Christensen was born in Swede Prairie Township, Minnesota on July 16, 1906 to Christian and Signe (Kompelien) Christensen. She was baptized and confirmed at Spring Creek Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member there. Cora graduated from Clarkfield High School and the St. Cloud Teacher's Training School and attended the University of Minnesota. She taught school in Granite Falls, Willmar, and Milan, Minnesota and worked at the State Capitol for 25 years in the Agriculture Department. After retirement, Cora returned to the farm at Clarkfield where she resided until moving to Brookside Manor in Montevideo. She lived in Brookside until her health caused her to move to Luther Haven in December of 1993 where she resided until her death. Cora passed away on August 8, 1994, at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 88 years. She is survived by nephews: Stanley Christensen of Hanley Falls; Allan Christensen of Bloomington; and John Christensen of Clarkfield; nieces: Lois Andrews of McLean, Virginia; Nordis Shrankler of Stillwater; and Gayle Bupara of Saratoga Springs, New York. Also nieces June Dahlager of Clarkfield, Shirley Olson of Spicer, and Donna Teeter of St. Paul, Minnesota, and their families and friends. Cora was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Carl, Albert, and Bennie and sister Susie Trovatten. Blessed be her memory.
