Conrad Milfred Mauland was born October 2, 1897, in Vallers Township of Lyon County, Minnesota, and passed away June 14, 1976, at the Community Memorial Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, at the age of 78. His parents were Tollef T. and Bertha Marie (Lende) Mauland. He was baptized and confirmed at the Silo (now Christ Lutheran) Church of Cottonwood. After attending country school near his home and graduating from Cottonwood High School in 1918, he taught school near Linton, North Dakota, Lyon and Yellow Medicine Counties in Minnesota. On March 16, 1932, he was married to Celia Miller. To this union one daughter, Beulah, was born. They lived and farmed in Vallers Township until his health failed. A member of the St. Lucas Lutheran Church, he was active in both church and community affairs, served on various township and county boards and was a dealer for DeKalb Seed Corn for 29 years. Mr. Mauland entered the Clarkfield Care Center in August, 1973, residing there until his death. Survivors are his daughter, Beulah; son-in-law, Norman Anderson; and grandchildren: Wesley, Theresa (Mrs. Robert Hoff), Dennis, Loren, and Lorinda; two sisters: Elizabeth Huso of Cottonwood and Grethe Foss of Echo; three brothers: Oscar and Bernhard of Cottonwood and Reynold of Clarkfield; six nephews and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Celia; his parents; and four nephews. IN MEMORY OF CONRAD M.
