Obituary

Conrad Olai Haugen was born February 29, 1896, in Lisbon Township to Sigurd and Signe (Solberg) Haugen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bergen Lutheran Church in Stony Run Township. He attended rural school and also the University of Minnesota Farm School. Conrad married Perle Annette Anderson on December 2, 1917. Five children were born to them. He was a great father. He was a part of his children's lives for all these years and will continue to be an important part of their lives forever. He spent his life on the family farm three miles east and two miles north of Clarkfield in Lisbon Township. He was a member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church and the Farmers Union. He contributed generously to various civic and charitable organizations. Conrad passed away on Friday, February 22, 1991, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital where he had been a patient for six days at the age of 94 years, 11 months and 22 days. Conrad is survived by his children: Roland and Richard of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Signe (Peggy) and Willard Olson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Beverly Chappell of Houston, Texas, Lowell and Shirley Haugen of Baraboo, Wisconsin; fourteen grandchildren, Peter and Jean Olson, Patricia and Michael Rethwill, Jean and Gary Stolpa, Janice and Forrest Pearson, John and Geri Olson, William and Cheryl Chappell, Jill and Gary Chappell-Cox, Steven and Emily Chappell, Kurt and Autumn Chappell, Christopher and Vicki Chappell, Robert and Norine Chappell, Ann Haugen, Laura and Alfons Foschiatti and Keith Haugen; fourteen great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Clara Anderson of Spearfish, South Dakota, Mattie Anderson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Evelyn Anderson of Wheaton, Minnesota; and brother-in-law, Tom Pasque of San Diego, California.
