September 7, 1913 – January 3, 1997
Conrad I. Fagerlie was born on September 7, 1913, at Clarkfield, Minnesota, to parents I.F. and Annie Fagerlie. He was baptized and later confirmed at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Following graduation from Clarkfield High School, he entered the United States Army. He served as a 1st Lieutenent in World War II, serving in Italy. He was part of the 88th Infantry Division, "The Blue Devils". Conrad married Laurine Johnson on December 6, 1942. To this union were born two daughters: Constance and Mary Jo. Conrad and Laurine farmed in the Clarkfield area until his retirement. He was a member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church, VFW, American Legion, and The Blue Devils. Conrad passed away on Friday, January 3, 1997, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 83 years, 3 months, and 28 days. He is survived by daughter Mary Jo (and Bill) Leindecker of Willmar, Minnesota, and two grandchildren: Scott of Bemidji and Traci of Willmar. He is also survived by special friend, Alida Forbord of Clarkfield; brother, Fritz (and Vicki) Fagerlie of Alamo, Texas, sisters: Anna Fagerlie of Rochester, Minnesota, Margaret Wold of Waconia, Minnesota, and Dorothy Hopper of Rockford, Delaware; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Laurine; infant daughter, Constance; two brothers and one sister.
