Clifford LeRoy Sandager, was born August 1, 1916, in Hazel Run, Minnesota, to Marie (Johnson) and Gustav Sandager. He was baptized at Hazel Run Lutheran Church and confirmed his Lutheran faith October 12, 1930, at Bergen Lutheran Church. He graduated from Granite Falls High School. Clifford married Florence Winson on October 13, 1938. Clifford was employed at various places in the Clarkfield area, Farmers Co-Op Creamery, Mork's Electric, City of Clarkfield, and Westre Trucking. Since his retirement, he has enjoyed his home at Valhalla Apartments. Clifford died December 27, 1989, at Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Florence, two infant sisters and an infant brother. Clifford is survived by five daughters, Ann (Mrs. Curt Nielsen) of Marshall, Minnesota, Bethel (Mrs. Larry Arlt) of Marshall, Minnesota, Cheryl (Mrs. Roger Bergeson) of Dawson, Minnesota, Diane (Mrs. Dennis Enevoldsen) of Montevideo, Minnesota, and Elaine Sandager of Houston, Texas; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Gerhard of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and several nieces & nephews. Blessed be his memory. This poem was used on Clifford's Mother's memorial card in the year 1919: GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTON A precious one from us has gone A voice we loved is still; A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in His Wisdom has recalled, The boon His love had given And though the body slumbers here, The soul is safe in Heaven.
