Obituary

Clifford E. Olson was born May 13, 1908 in Lisbon Township to Peder J. Olson and Olena A. (Benson) Olson. He was Baptized and Confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Camp Release Lutheran Church in Stony Run Township. He married Ingeborg L. Carlson on Feb. 15, 1936 at the Clarkfield Lutheran Parsonage. To this union two sons Cedric and Larry were born. In 1986 they were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with many friends and relatives. Clifford farmed for 53 years before retiring in 1989 following a stroke. His slogan was to always return borrowed equipment in better shape then he had received it and that carried over to his desire to leave the soil better then he found it. Clifford served on the Congregation Council at Clarkfield Lutheran as well as Sunday School Treasurer for several years. He was a member of Granite Falls Lutheran Congregation the last few years. His Community involvements included being a member of the Stony Run Farmers Union and the National Farmers Organization. Clifford whistled while working with wood, loved to travel and to play his saw. He enjoyed great music whether by Montavani, his son or grandchildren. Clifford is survived by his wife of 59 years Ingeborg Olson; two sons Cedric (wife Marlys) Olson of Elk River, Minnesota, Larry (wife Carolyn) of Granite Falls, Minnesota; grandchildren Julie (husband Kirk) Hendricks of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Thomas (wife Laura) Olson of Albertville, Minnesota, Kristi Olson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Cory, Rachel and Matthew Olson of Granite Falls, Minnesota, and one great grandson, Kyle Hendricks of Prior Lake, Minnesota; sisters in-law Esther Olson of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Francis Werner of Montevideo, Minnesota, Viola (husband Ruben) Loose of Eugene, Oregon, and one brother-in-law Stanley (wife Elsie) Carlson of Clarkfield, Minnesota Clifford was preceded in death by his parents Peder and Olena Olson, sisters Clara Wilcox, Josephine Aanes, brothers Hilmar, Bert, Luthard, and Leonard Olson.
