Obituary

Clifford Jerome Dotseth, oldest son of Carl and Josephine (Wilson) Dotseth, was born in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on December 25, 1900. He passed away in the Granite Falls Hospital, Granite Falls, Minnesota, on August 2, 1970, at the age of 69 years. Clifford was baptized by Pastor Sotendahl of the Spring Creek Lutheran Church and was confirmed at Spring Creek by Pastor O.T. Storaasli. Later he transferred his membership to Augustana Lutheran Church in Clarkfield where he remained active until his death. As a young child, Clifford lived with his parents on a farm in Normania Township. When he reached school age, he went to Hazel Run to attend school and while there lived with his grandparents, the Ole Wilsons. After the first school year, he rejoined his family at the Spring Creek Store where they lived from 1907 to 1915, during which time he attended the Spring Creek School. In 1915, the Dotseth family moved to North Dakota to resume farming. In 1919 they returned to Minnesota where they continued farming in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County. On January 26, 1927, Clifford Dotseth and Dora Anderson were united in marriage by the Rev. O.M.O. Wee. To this union, three children were born: Clifford, Jr., Rachel and Ervin. As newlyweds, they established their home at the Dotseth farm in Tyro Township where they remained until Dora's death on December 4, 1968, and where Clifford lived until his recent illness and hospitalization. Other close members of the family who preceded him in death were his brother, Lester, who passed away in November, 1962, and his father, Carl, who died in April, 1963. Surviving members of the family are two sons: Clifford, Jr. of Palatine, Illinois, and Ervin of Rake, Iowa; a daughter, Rachel (Mrs. Harland Hagen) of Hanley Falls, Minnesota; his mother, Josie, of Granite Falls, Minnesota; two daughters-in-law; one son-in-law; nine grandchildren; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
